What changes with an A/T tyre
A/T tread blocks and voids are generally more open and robust than a normal road/H/T pattern. That can improve traction on loose or uneven surfaces, with possible trade-offs in tread noise, weight, ride feel or rolling resistance on paved roads.
When A/T makes sense
- Pickups that regularly enter work sites.
- 4x4s used on gravel and rough roads.
- SUVs that frequently leave paved roads.
- Drivers who need one tyre for both normal road use and regular rough-surface driving.
When a road/H/T tyre may be better
If the vehicle spends almost all of its time in city and highway use, a road-focused tyre can be quieter and more refined. Choose A/T for the conditions the vehicle actually faces, not simply for the appearance.
Check before ordering
Confirm the exact size, load rating, speed/service description and wheel clearance. A/T patterns can differ significantly even within the same brand.
